We Did It!

Welcome to our wedding website.

Here you’ll find all the now useless information for our May 2011 nuptials. (Bonus: You’ve already learned how to spell nuptials.) A quick guide to the site:

- The posts to the right will provide the details of the weekend. (If you scroll down, the bottom right has a “Next Page” link that will bring you to older posts about our engagement party and engagement story.)

- The links in gray on the upper right hand of the page are pretty self explanatory. Click on “Registry” to see the stuff we’ve scanned. Check out “Directions” to get to Sag Harbor and East Hampton Point. “Contact” has our email addresses in case you need to get in touch. Finally, do not, under any circumstances, click on “Archive.” Trust us.

Thanks for stopping by.

Our Story

See the star in the middle of map? That is where it all began. In Dix Hills. Half Hollow Hills High School East to be exact. It’s 1995, in Social Studies class, a West Hollow boy and Candlewood girl first “met.” (We put “met” in quotes because we didn’t really speak to each other that year.) Fast forward to sophomore year, we became friends at Homecoming rehearsals. And this friendship grew through Senior year…until Seth became newly single, and Jess swooped in. (Another version of this story exists in which Seth tells everyone at a party how much he likes Jess and then persuades her to give him a shot.) They visited his cousin, Eric, at Indiana University and on the flight back, he officially asked her: “Will you be my girlfriend?” The rest, as they say, is hist—-an on-and-off relationship for almost 12 years that managed to survive college, study abroad, the big city, the twin cities and all the growing up that comes with it. One thing never changed over all this time, and that’s how much we love each other.

We’re so thankful to our family and friends for all the support you’ve given us along the way. We’re so happy to finally be getting married. And we’re so excited to be celebrating with you all soon…very, very soon.

Weekend Recommendations

Lodging:
The wedding party will be staying in Sag Harbor, not East Hampton. (See above right for directions.) Most hotels in EH are crazy expensive, and the town is still a 10-15 minute drive from where the wedding will take place. We have a block of rooms at two places (links below). Ask for Jessica Weintraub & Seth Gaffney for wedding rates and note neither place has a two night minimum.

Sag Harbor Inn - 631.725.2949 (Update: No Vacancy Saturday night)

Baron’s Cove Inn - 631.725.2100

East Hampton Point - 631.324.9191 (This is also an option, as they have cottages and suites available, though with much higher rates.)

Dining:

The two hotels located on Sag Harbor Cove are a less than 5-minute walk into the town, where there are a bunch of places to eat and shop. Explore the space! Here are some favorites:

Bay Burger - 1742 Sag Harbor Turnpike, Sag Harbor - A modern take on the road-side burger joint, featuring burgers, grilled cheeses, hot dogs, veggie burgers and ice cream

(The Corner Bar also has great burgers)

Dockside Bar & Grill - 26 Bay Street, Sag Harbor - A grill with a great view, located at the American Legion, with outdoor seating, seafood, sandwiches and complete entrees

Il Cappucino - 30 Madison Street, Sag Harbor - A Northern Italian restaurant with excellent wines and the best garlic knots (Ravioli…holy canoli!)

(Vicenzo’s and Conca d’Oro are good Italian lunch options)

New Paradise Café - 126 Main Street, Sag Harbor - A casual restaurant with a lively bar scene, serving grilled fish, crab cakes, lobster salad, roasted duck and steaks

Sen - 23 Main Street, Sag Harbor - A Japanese restaurant and Sushi Bar with a wide array of sake and martinis

The Golden Pear Cafe - 111 Main Street, Sag Harbor - A Hamptons staple that’s a great spot for breakfast, brunch or lunch

Wining:

There are dozens of vineyards within a short drive. Ask your hotel for recommendations or hit up two of the closest for tasting and/or tours:

Wolffer EstatesSagg Road, Sagaponack - 631- 537-5106

Channing Daughters - 1927 Scuttlehole Road, Bridgehampton- 631-537-7224

Everything Else:

The town of Sag Harbor is super-cute. (Okay, Jess, give the laptop back.) Walk around, shop, visit historical points, hang out at the park or do any/all of the following activities:

Golf - Sag Harbor Golf Club - East Hampton Turnpike (Route 114) - 631-725-9739

Tennis - Mashashimuet Park (free public courts) - 375 Main Street - 631-725-4018

Hiking - Elizabeth A. Morton National Wildlife Refuge - 784 Noyack Road
